Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Aaron Alvarez Enterprises, the business behind SkinBalance ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of our web application, SkinBalance, available at go.skinbalance.app, and our marketing website at skinbalance.app (together, the "Service"). Both sites are operated by the same business and are covered by this single Privacy Policy, but they are separate technical origins: cookies and browser storage set on one site are not automatically shared with the other.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and encrypted password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture as provided by Google.
- Payment Information: When you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor, Stripe, collects your payment card information. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We only receive a token from Stripe to confirm your payment status.
- Photo Analysis Data: Your portrait photos are analyzed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on our servers. Only a small set of numeric color values (RGB and LAB measurements sampled from specific regions of the photo, such as a patch of skin) are sent to our analysis API. That API returns a confidence score and suggested correction values. Any corrected preview image is generated locally in your browser using those values and is never sent back to us. We do not store these color measurements in a way that is linked to your account, and we have no record connecting any specific photo or face to the values that were analyzed.
- Usage Data: We store limited account-level usage information, such as the number of analyses you've run, in our database, primarily to enforce free-tier limits. This does not include the images themselves or the color values described above.
- Support Chat Data: If you use the in-app support chatbot, a transcript of that conversation is sent to our support inbox by email. We do not intentionally collect personal information through the chatbot beyond what you choose to type into it. Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information in the chat unless it's necessary for us to help you.
- Technical Data: We may collect standard technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, as part of our hosting and security measures.
- Cookies and Analytics Data: We use cookies for essential site functionality (such as keeping you signed in) and, if you consent, for analytics. See Section 4, "Cookies," below.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the SkinBalance service.
- Authenticate you and manage your user account.
- Process your subscription payments.
- Enforce usage limits for our free tier.
- Respond to support requests, including through our chatbot.
- Communicate with you for support and service-related updates.
- Understand, in aggregate, how visitors use our marketing site and app, if you consent to analytics cookies.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with the following categories of third-party service providers who help us operate our application:
- Stripe: To process payments. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Database and authentication providers: For account storage, login, and database hosting.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers: For application hosting, content delivery, and security.
- Google: To provide the "Sign in with Google" option, and, if you consent to analytics cookies, to provide Google Analytics. These are separate Google services; see Section 4 below for details on analytics specifically.
4. Cookies
We use two categories of cookies and similar browser storage:
- Strictly Necessary: Used to keep you signed in and to process payments (for example, a session cookie from our authentication provider, and cookies set by Stripe during checkout). These are required for the Service to function and are not subject to a consent choice.
- Analytics (optional): We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic and usage patterns, such as how many people visit our site or use the app. These cookies are only set if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. If you click "Decline," or if you don't make a choice, these cookies remain off and no analytics data is sent to Google.
You can change your analytics cookie choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer. Your choice is stored separately for skinbalance.app and go.skinbalance.app, since they are separate technical origins, so you may need to set your preference on each.
5. Your Data Rights
You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information. You can manage some of this information from your Account page. For further requests, please contact us.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information. User passwords and sensitive keys are encrypted. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page.
